Course Information
This weekly course is ideal for both beginners and improvers, whether you have never touched clay before or you have some basic clay skills. All are welcome on this course designed to boost your clay-confidence, give you foundation skills and knowledge, and introduce you to the benefits and possibilities of pottery and ceramics. Sessions will include a mix of demonstration and individual support to enable you to work at your own pace and level. Choose to follow our mini projects or experiment and develop your own creative ideas with some guidance. Topics covered will include a range of handbuilding techniques, throwing and turning on a wheel, surface decoration and glazing. This course is designed so you can take it multiple times to grow your skills and confidence and expand the range you can produce. Maximum class size of 6. Suitable for adults and children 14+ with an accompanying adult.
Your safety
- Please wear closed toe shoes. No long necklaces, scarves or ties and tie long hair back.
- It will not be possible to use the electric wheels if you have a pacemaker.
- Aprons are available or bring your own. Also wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy just in case!

Course Information
These relaxed creative sessions have a different focus each month and are suitable for all, from beginners to those with more experience. Learn through demonstration and individual guidance, sharing ideas with others in the group. You will have plenty of time to experiment and make at your own pace. Maximum class sizes 6, suitable for adults and children 12+ with an accompanying adult. All materials and firing included in the cost, tea and coffee and homemade cake (bring a packed lunch!).
Some workshops will include surface design and some colouring with slips or underglazes within the workshop, others where highly glazed finish effect is desired will need to be done on your behalf aafter the bisque fire ( I will explain fully). Up to 2 regular or 4 small pieces will be bisque and glazed fired, available or pick up approx. 3 weeks after the session.

Oct - clay slabs to make gifts or festive season inspired things - i will have a range of ideas and examples, but please bring your own too
NoV -The SAME AS OCT - USING SLABS to make gifts and season inspired things
DEC - BIG MUGS and a coaster - handbuilding and colouring and decorating your ideal winter BIG drink mug with sGrafitto or relief pattern
FEB - ANIMAL SCULPTUREs. This is a great sessions. i will guide you through the process to make a sculpture (around 15cm )
March - Throwing session to make a cup, bowl and plate (only 3 spaces)
APRIL - MAKING GARDEN SCULPTURES TO PUT ON STAKES IN FLOWER BEDS (no garden no problem, OR SMALLER ONES FOR POTS or a vase)
MAY - Flower Pressing into clay, plus RELIEF ( an impressed item of your choosing using fine stemmed flowers, plus a relief plaster cast using chunckier stems)
JUNE - same as MAY - Flower Pressing and Relief Plaques
JULY - HAndbuilding bonanza - you come with the ideas and we try to make them!
SEPT - PUMPKINS AND GOURDS, make a set of 3 and decorate

Taster Sessions
When
At various times throughout the week and weekends when the studio is open. You can purchase an e-voucher as a gift or buy a taster session from our shop pages and then simply contact Karen to arrange your preferred time and date.
* If wanting to book as a group of 4 - 6 people see our ‘Studio Takeover' opportunities under the Experiences page. This gives you the chance to have the studio all to yourselves, for 1/2 day, with private tuition.

Including all materials and glazing and firing of a minimum of 2 pots or hand-built equivalent to collect approx.3 weeks after your taster session
Course Information
A fun 2 hr minute wheel or hand building session. This session will suit those who want to learn and experience some of the basics of throwing or hand building. After settling into the studio, and deciding what you want to do, you will be guided through the basics of centring on a wheel or your chosen hand building project. You will then choose your glazes from over 35 stoneware glazes to be finished on your behalf. Pieces will be kiln fired twice and be ready for collection approx. 3 weeks after the session
